More large-scale solar for the south east

Photon Energy (Photon) propose to construct and operate a 144 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic solar (PV) farm at Carrick, 5km from Marulan Town Centre, just north of Goulburn, NSW.  

The news comes after Photon’s recent announcement about their nearby Gunning Solar Farm proposal  – over twice as large at 316 MW, Click here to read more.

These proposals are part of Photon’s 1,000 MW development pipeline in Australia, with another 4 projects planned for NSW.

Photon have submitted their preliminary environmental assessment to the NSW Government for Carrick Solar Farm.  The project is expected to cost $130 million deeming it a State Significant Development thus requiring the company to produce an Environmental Impact Assessment.

If approved, the solar farm will have an estimated 358,132 solar PV panels arranged over an area of 240 hectares and will have 138 central inverters on-site.

Construction is expected to start in late 2018 taking 9 to 12 months and employing up to 100 people utilising local labour and resources where possible.
