Our client is nationally recognized Engineering, Construction and Maintenance business and part of a larger internationally firm who specialise on the delivery of large scale renewable energy projects across Australia and the Asia Pacific region. 2017 has seen the addition of several new clients and assets under management making this organisation one of the largest brands within their market sector.  

This role will see you leading the Engineering team in the delivery of engineering and contract management function across the business, mentoring of a team of energetic and vibrant engineers, improvement of engineering process and improvement of technical specifications. In this position, you will work with the construction and asset management teams provide engineering and contract support both during contract negotiation, construction and operations.  

This role requires the incumbent to be both technical and leadership focused. Strong knowledge and experience across projects in the renewable energy sector along with previous experience in the role of Engineering Manager or Contract Manager within the renewable energy industry.

Head of Asset Management

An exciting opportunity to join one of Australia's leading renewable energy developers and support the development of large scale wind and solar projects across Australia, leading the Asset Management Team. The Asset Management team has the responsibility to manage operational wind and solar plant including site operations, plant performance and future asset maintenance planning. 

An opportunity has become available within the Canberra team. The role will be to provide complete management of the asset management division of the business, also interacting and supporting the development and construction divisions. The focus will be to provide quality service to our client base, to grow the client base and to build the team into a skilled and cohesive unit. There will be a requirement to understand the latest and best practices for the operation of wind and solar plant, maintain industry connections as well as provide engineering and management support.  Applicants will be expected to travel and be prepared for short-term field stays. 

Functioning as part of the senior management team contributing to the overall management and planning of the business; the duties include; undertaking business development to grow the business, including development of growth plans and establishing relationships within the industry, establishment of processes and systems to increase the efficiency and capabilities of the team, ongoing review and improvement of processes and systems, manage the allocation of resources for the team, ensure that the goals and objective of the division are being met; mentor the team, passing through your skills and experience, and if needed involve yourself in the delivery of the services, provide solutions to complex issues, whether technical or relationship based, Responsibility for the safety of personnel, the operating sites, responsibility for the environmental protection at the operating sites, responsibility for the performance of the generating assets, for maximised production and life expectancy.

Degree qualified in either mechanical, aeronautical or electrical engineering disciplines, have significant experience in the management of operational heavy plant and equipment, preferably in the power generation industry, with knowledge of wind turbines and HV power plant desirable. Able to demonstrable high level of interest in renewable energy and its underlying philosophies, and be keen and able to work in a motivated and flexible team environment. A thorough understanding of the different aspects of operating a power plant including site operations. 

Demonstrable capacity to lead, mentor and grow a team while effectively managing and allocating resources. The capacity to establish systems and processes and continually review and improve. Be effective communicators, both verbally and in the written form and a capacity to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, contractors and consultants, Excellent understanding of budgets and financial management, effective skills and strong competence with the Microsoft Office suite of software and other IT systems and tools, a valid driving licence is also required.
